“Our feelings are our most genuine paths to knowledge.”
Hi, I’m Camille primous (she/her)
I invite my clients to consider the question, “what might it feel like to return home to yourself?” I understand that there are many factors that lead to a sense of alienation and disconnection from our bodies, our values, and our relationships that can leave us feeling disempowered in our lives. I work with my clients to explore how experiences of trauma, intersecting with experiences of privilege and oppression, contribute to ways of coping that might lead us to feel less than choiceful. I understands that many of these coping strategies are smart, and exist in an effort to keep ourselves safe in the world. I understand that many things we experience such as difficult relationships with food and our bodies, perfectionism, and experiential avoidance make sense in the face of trauma and oppression. I partner with my clients to move beyond just survival, working to create space, where things once felt small.
I understand that it isn’t my job to have all of the answers. I am here as a warm, curious and astute observer who wants to partner with clients as they learn and attune to patterns that keep them stuck, supporting them in creating paths to greater healing and connection.
As a biracial black, queer, and able-bodied woman, I believe in the importance of understanding the intersections of our social identities and how they inform the relationship we have with food and our bodies. With this, I hope to hold space and advocate for who clients are in all their multitudes. With the utmost compassion, care, and patience, I empower clients to engender change in their lives that brings them to a place of greater abundance and radical self-love. I want nothing more than to support my clients in returning home to themselves through healing the connection and relationship to food and body, while reconnecting them to their values that give their lives meaning.
When I’m not seeing clients, I love to dance and have been a latin dance performer and instructor for many years. My current dance obsession is contemporary Afro styles and Amapiano and love how it connects me to ancestry and culture. I find deep resource when spending time in nature and have a budding interest in land stewardship. I love spending time with my loved ones, reading in the sun, and eating something delicious!
Experience and Approach
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LH 61055756), Certified Nutritionist (NU 60791674), and Clinical Supervisor in Washington State. I received my Masters of Science in Nutrition and Clinical Health Psychology from Bastyr University in 2017. I utilize an eclectic and politicized approach to both mental health and nutrition counseling, informed by my years of working in both higher levels of care and outpatient care. I practice firmly from a Health at Every Size approach and believe in each individual’s inherent ability and capacity for healing. I have extensive experience in the treatment of acute eating disorders, comorbid conditions, and crisis management and enjoy working with teens and adults. I am committed to my continued learning and growth in providing decolonized, trauma-informed care to all my clients. My approach is influenced by mindfulness, politicized somatics, systems, and driven by values. I believe in an openness to feedback, especially when it allows for deeper learning, growth, and connection.
